A pastoral letter from the Bishop of Pontefract and the Bishop of Beverley
We wrote to your priests earlier this year about “The Vision Glorious” a festival, sponsored by Forward in Faith and the Society of St Wilfrid and St Hilda, to be held at Wakefield Cathedral on Saturday 23 November. We hope that this will be a great celebration of our Catholic heritage and an opportunity for all who value that heritage to come together in worship and mutual support.
We hope that every single person who shares the “Vision Glorious” will be at the newly refurbished Wakefield Cathedral on the 23 November to fill it to overflowing. It will be an inspiring and uplifting occasion which we hope will send us away filled with new hope. Can we also ask you to please pray for the success of this event and can we ask priests to offer a mass for the same intention?
Let nothing prevent you being there. Bring a coach from your Parish or Deanery, bring your banners, let’s celebrate and remind ourselves how much fun the catholic faith can be and how much we need to share it with everyone.
We look forward to being able to greet you all in Wakefield.
Every blessing
Bishop Tony and Bishop Glyn

Bishop Encourages Theological Students to be Passionate for Christ

Bishop Glyn was delighted to have been recently invited to preach at the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield. Whilst there he very much enjoyed the company of staff and students alike. He was pleased to see the College in good heart at the beginning of this new academic year and to see that there are a good number of students studying at the College this year. During his sermon at the Mass for the Feast of Saint Paulinus (first Archbishop of York and Apostle to the North) Bishop Glyn encouraged the students to be passionate in preaching for conversion and to be passionate in celebrating the sacraments faithfully. He also urged them to pay close attention to their own spiritual lives. Bishop Glyn said, “Be faithful servants of Christ in the 21st Century”.
