Category - News
Following the final approval debate in Synod opening up the possibility of episcopal ministry to women, Bishop Glyn is keen to make himself available to meet with his brother priests to reflect on the outcome (whichever way the vote goes). Therefore he has arranged three meetings immediately following the General Synod. These will be on:
Wednesday 16 July at St James St James, Owton Manor, Hartlepool Thursday 17 July at St Paul's, Royton, Oldham Friday 18 July at St Jude's, Hexthorpe, Doncaster
The format will be the same for each of the three get-togethers, namely, 12 noon Mass followed by bring your own lunch (drinks provided), then an opportunity to reflect together and to make comments and ask questions of Bishop Glyn. We hope to finish by 2pm or 2.30pm at the latest.
Obviously there is no compulsion for anybody to attend, but Bishop Glyn is keen to make himself available at this critical time in our life together.

Following today's announcement of the Venerable Paul John Ferguson, Archdeacon of Cleveland, as the next Bishop of Whitby, and the Reverend Canon Dr John Thomson, Director of Ministry in the Diocese of Sheffield, as the next Bishop of Selby, Bishop Glyn assures them of his prayers for their future ministries. He also assures the people of the Archdeaconaries of Cleveland and York of his continuing prayers and support for the life of the church with which he has been associated for the past 37 years.
One practical implication of these appointments is that Bishop Glyn will now provide episcopal care for petitioning parishes throughout the diocese of York on a permanent basis.

The Archbishop of York has invited Bishop Glyn to preside at a Chrism Mass for traditionalist clergy, primarily but by no means exclusively in the Diocese of York. The service will take place on Holy Monday, 14th April, 1200 noon, at St Paul’s North Thornaby, by kind permission of Father Harry Hopkins, parish priest. The Archbishop will preach. The invitation is to all clergy and laity. Should you wish to attend, it would be helpful for you to inform the Bishop of Beverley’s office, so that we have an idea of numbers. The Holy Oils will be available immediately following the service.
Bishop Glyn will also preach at the Chrism Eucharist at York Minster at 11am on Maundy Thursday (17 April 2014)
The Bishop of Pontefract will be celebrating the following Chrism Mass:
