Priest in Charge St Chad, Toller Lane & Interim Priest in Charge, St Saviour Fairweather Green
The Diocese of Leeds state:
Our Diocesan vision is about confident clergy equipping confident Christians to live and tell the good news of Jesus Christ so that churches grow and communities are transformed. For this shared post across two adjacent parishes, we are seeking a priest with a joyful and confident faith which can inspire church growth, both spiritually and numerically. Both parishes have recently had periods of Interim Ministry, each served by a different priest. We are now able to offer a full-time role serving in both parishes, and the two PCCs have both agreed to move their Sunday morning service times by 30 minutes to make this workable. Recognising that St Chad’s PCC is one of two parishes in the Bradford Episcopal Area that has passed a resolution under the Bishops and Priest (Consecration and Ordination of Women) Measure of 2014, we are seeking a Society priest who can also work fruitfully with St Saviour’s, which has enjoyed the ministry of women priests for many years. He will be someone who can guide these congregations with love and sensitivity through challenging times, lead a wide range of Anglican worship well, enable both churches to flourish in their respective integrities and manage required changes well.
St Chad’s is an inner city parish and in the top 1% most deprived in England (according the Church Urban fund statistics). The population can be characterised as young, Asian and Muslim, but that is not the full story. Of the 6,616 people living in the parish at the 2021 census, 80% were Muslim, 37% were under the age of 20 (and more than half were under 30). However, 10% were of white British heritage and there is also a sizable presence of Eastern European people. St Saviour’s is located slightly further out from the city centre, but still in the top 4% most deprived parishes. Around half of its population of 8336 (at 2021 census) is of Muslim background, but c40% are of white British heritage.
The Diocese of Leeds is committed to retaining an engaged presence in such challenging contexts. We are also committed to ensuring that a flourishing, viable and welcoming ecclesial presence in the Catholic tradition of the Anglican church continues in the Bradford Episcopal Area. St Chad’s, with its strong traditional Anglican Catholic heritage, is a spiritual home to many people from outside the parish. St Saviour’s congregation is also very committed to eucharistic worship, as well as wanting to experiment with breaking new ground by offering worship which will be attractive to children and young families.

As such, the Diocese has been successful in securing funding from the national church in order to make this a full-time post guaranteed for six years. - A man of prayer with a vision to build on our existing ministry and work with St Matthew’s Carver Street to grow our congregation?

- A leader who will look at fresh ways to reach out to the wider community – developing links with local schools, care homes and community groups?
- A committed person who will support the Diocesan vison, of making disciples and transforming our society and Gods world, building teams of disciples, rather than doing everything themselves?
- Someone who will support the church wardens, PCC and the congregation in developing a stronger and more evangelistic parish – using the sacramental life to grow the Church?

The Diocese of York
The Diocese of York, led and guided by Archbishop Stephen Cottrell, takes in much of North and East Yorkshire. As the largest diocese in England, geographically, the area is very diverse, featuring a multitude of needs and opportunities. This includes the bustling urban centres of York, Hull and Middlesbrough, the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park, and the incomparable Yorkshire Coast; as well as areas of deprivation in some of our urban and smaller rural and coastal communities.
Our mission and ministry relies on thousands of people – lay and ordained, volunteer and paid. Our diocesan teams provide a wide range of support services to our mission and ministry, including lifelong learning for ministry, the care of church buildings, and safeguarding. Together, we are striving to be a people who are ‘Living Christ’s Story’. We want to be a simpler, bolder, humbler church which in its diversity reflects the communities it serves. We are bringing renewed focus and fresh energy to achieving our aims:
- Becoming more like Christ
- Reaching those we currently don’t
- Growing in discipleship, influence and numbers
- Transforming our finances and structures

Parish Priest of St George’s in the Meadows and ‘Affinity Model’ Team Leader including St Cyprian’s Sneinton and St George’s, Netherfield
Are you a passionate and prayerful priest in the Anglo-Catholic tradition who loves God and people? Would you flourish living in the heart of the vibrant, youthful city of Nottingham? Do you have experience of growing a faithful Christian community nourished by the Sacraments and resourced for mission in the local neighbourhood and wider society? Are you a strategic, missional team leader who can take people with you to implement a shared vision? Is God calling you to lead and develop St George’s as the resourcing church of the Anglo-Catholic community in the Nottingham Archdeaconry that ‘is growing to give itself away’?
If so, we encourage you to read this exciting profile which outlines the ambitious plan for a partnership between the three Society parishes in Nottingham, the diocese, the Bishop of Beverley and which, we hope, will be developed with the support of Anglo-Catholic Mission agencies.
“This is not merely a sustaining role. It is a priestly calling; to help a Traditional Catholic resourcing church to flourish; to strengthen mission across the Affinity Model parishes; and to help people meet Jesus, come to faith, and grow as disciples.” (A quote from the parish profile) .

Priest in Charge of All Saints, Middlesbrough
Is God calling you to be the next Priest in Charge of All Saints, Middlesbrough in the Diocese of York?
All Saints enjoys an honoured place in the centre of Middlesbrough town with a rich sacramental tradition and strong missional reputation. A Parish of the Society, the Mass is the centre of church life; All Saints has thrived over the years because of the direct line from the altar to the street. With new housing and a new secondary school being built whose catchment has the highest rate of child poverty in the country, we are seeking a priest with energy, vision and desire to collaborate; working with civic and church leaders, who will respond to the significant needs of those who live, work and study in Middlesbrough and continue the long-held tradition of All Saints of working beyond parish boundaries.
As a town-centre church, the parish has historically been associated with local government, civic and ceremonial events. Past Incumbents have chaired the Town Centre Partnership, local school governing bodies and community councils. Our parish is currently the shopping, administrative, commercial and educational centre for the wider area. There are now agreed proposals to build 3,400 new houses which will more than double our residential population. This, together with a new secondary school, will provide a substantial opportunity for mission.
Today, All Saints is seen by many as their place for baptisms, weddings and funerals even when they have moved away. We enjoy close links with two primary schools and look forward to working with the new secondary school. Most of our congregation are established parishioners, some from other parishes. We also enjoy welcoming new faces from the mobile communities we serve: a fluid student population, medical employees with variable working patterns and newcomers to Middlesbrough.
From its earliest days All Saints has stood firmly in the Anglo Catholic tradition and has remained at the forefront of the movement. Over the years, the church has been enhanced and beautified for its worship; for example, the choir stalls were removed and a westward facing altar placed in what is now a wonderful open sanctuary. Worship is centred on the Mass which is celebrated 3-4 times a week and we are supported musically by an experienced Organist.
Across Middlesbrough this vacancy comes at an exciting time, as we are in the middle of discerning how the Spirit of God is calling us over the coming years. Later in 2026, the diocese, with the encouragement of the national church, is seeking significant new investment to support these plans; we envisage that our new priest will be a key part of this.
We are looking for an energetic priest, dedicated to their calling in the Catholic tradition of the church, who:
· respects and upholds the tradition of the church and its liturgy · has a zeal for pastoral care · has a clear vision for growing the church · can recognise and use the talents of the laity through trust, co-operation and delegation · acknowledges the deprivation of the area · understands that our finances are stable and sufficient not to be a cause of stress · will have a supportive and experienced PCC · will play a core part in the Deanery Plan for the Town Centre parishes.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
