24 April 2026

Dear Friends,

As we continue through the great Easter Season, my prayers continue for all who look to the Bishop and See of Beverley for pastoral and sacramental care:  may the joy of the Risen Lord be with you.

Although I am not able to visit parishes, schools, chaplaincies, religious communities and homes as much as I would like to, I do my best to keep up with all that is going on and hold your joys and sorrows in my daily prayers.  Please do continue to keep me informed, either directly or via my office.

My office

Many of you have got to know Yaneth Infante-Blanco, my PA, over the last 16 months.  I am enormously grateful for all that she does looking after my diary and administration. She works mornings, Monday to Friday and may be contacted on email via office@seeofbeverley.org.uk and on the telephone on 07394 545887.
The team has been joined by Hanna Hart this month who is my new Lay Chaplain.  She will generally work afternoons, Tuesday to Friday and may be contacted via email on chaplain@seeofbeverley.org.uk and on the phone at 07506 991315.  Hanna has a theology degree and is a member of the Societas Sanctae Birgittae.  She worked previously for Forward in Faith with both Colin Podmore and Tom Middleton.  She and Yaneth will work closely together and I hope, with her as an addition to the team, my workload will be reduced and my episcopal ministry enhanced.
Jane Race continues in her role as Children and Youth Ministry advisor and is on hand for consultation and visits.  She also plans and delivers the regional development days.  She comes with many years of experience in education and children’s ministry, which is being enhanced by her current studies towards a Theology MA in children and youth ministry. Please do get in touch, even if it’s just to talk something through on janerace@seeofbeverley.org.uk

Keeping up to date

If you are responsible for parish magazines, notice sheets or social media, please share as much See of Beverley information as you can.  We are a dispersed network of people across the Province of York and the best way to actively belong is to receive information, join in with events when possible and, above all, to pray for the work and ministry that we are committed to.

To join the mailing list please contact my office – all details are retained according to GDPR guidelines.

If you’re on social media, follow both Bishop Stephen Race and the See of Beverley Facebook pages.

Don’t forget the See of Beverley website either, where events, vacancies and photographs may be found.

Children and Youth Ministry Development Day

All who are involved with or interested in this ministry within the See of Beverley are invited to participate.  It is not just for those people and parishes who are wanting to start something new – if you have experience please come along and share this with others.

Information and booking details may be found here: Children and Youth Ministry Development Day June 2026 – The See of Beverley

See of Beverley Festival

Planning for this is now well underway.  The Festival will be in York Minster on 18th of July 2026 starting with Mass at 11am and followed by an afternoon teaching slot, around 3pm but timings may change as we finalise things, concluding with Vespers and Benediction.  Please encourage as many people to attend as possible.  It is not often we can gather in large numbers together and when we do it can be a source of great encouragement, especially to those priests, people and parishes who feel isolated.

Keep an eye on the website and social media for updates as they emerge.

To help with our planning, please fill in the booking form with as much detail as you can which may be found here: https://www.ticketsource.com/see-of-beverley

See of Beverley Conference 2027

Please hold 1st to 4th September 2027 as a “Save the Date”.  Plans for a residential See of Beverley lay and clergy conference are busy being formulated and we think that some time over these few days may be the best.  More information will be released as plans are firmed up.

My recent visit to Avila with the Bishop of Blackburn and 28 clergy was filled with blessings I could not have imagined.  The trip is detailed on the See of Beverley Facebook page – do have a look if you haven’t already.  With St Teresa of Jesus (known also as St Teresa of Avila) I encourage you all to remember that “Only God is Sufficient.”

Yours, as ever,

+Stephen Beverley
