with Priests of the Society hearing confessions
A shared rite of penitence and the opportunity for individual confession, within a Sung Mass celebrated by Bishop Stephen of Beverley, to which all are welcome.
Confession is never easy; still less so in the present climate. The purpose of such a service as this is that, by God’s grace, we can do together what seems too daunting to do on our own. We each come individually to seek God’s forgiveness, but we support each other, for we share the truth of John’s words, ‘If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves… but if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins.’
THE SEAL OF THE CONFESSIONAL
Experienced priests will hear confessions so please don’t be anxious. They are all trained in Safeguarding and appropriate procedures are strictly adhered to. ✜ There has been much discussion in recent years about the practice of hearing confessions. Do not be concerned. Canon Law has not been changed. The Seal of the Confessional will not be broken.
