Bishop Lindsay Urwin OGS, Administrator of the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham has announced today, 12 April 2015, that he has accepted an invitation from the Archbishop of Melbourne to return to his homeland to be Incumbent of Christ Church Brunswick and the bishop responsible for work with Anglican Schools in the Diocese.
On hearing the news Bishop Glyn, said, “Congratulations to Bishop Lindsay on the news of his appointment! His return to the rock from which he was hewn is our loss but Australia’s gain. I join with my brother bishops in acknowledging a very distinguished ministry that Bishop Lindsay has exercised as Bishop of Horsham and Administrator at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. As Administrator he has influenced for good the lives of thousands of pilgrims through his teaching and preaching ministry. His love of the Bible has helped many of us Catholics to discover that the Word of God is alive and active. It goes without saying that his sacramental ministry and his devotion to Mary, Mother of us all has been most helpful to us in our own spiritual lives and Christian Discipleship. It’s great for me to observe him as he visits the tables in the refectory at practically every meal and to see how greatly loved he is by everyone. We hope that we will have the opportunity of seeing Bishop Lindsay before he leaves our shores to wish him well, but now, it’s business as usual for him as the busy pilgrim season gets underway. We assure him of our love and prayers between now and his departure and thereafter.”
